Altair was established in 1982. Our initial market and service was the ion chromatography systems of Dionex Corporation of the U.S.

At that time, ion chromatography was a new analytical method, developed in 1975 by Dr. H. Small at Dow Chemical Company. It was essentially the only analytical tool that could quickly and accurately separate and assay a large number of ion types from a small sample. Dionex's ion chromatography systems are used today in a large number of laboratories for an ever increasing number of applications in a wide variety of fields.

Altair has also been active in the field of biotechnology. In 1983, we became a distributor for Sweden's Pharmacia (now part of GE Healthcare Bio-Science). Since then, Altair has marketed a large number of cutting-edge, high-performance products for U.S. companies such as Waters Corporation, PerkinElmer Inc., Millipore Corporation, Thermo Scientific, and others. We carefully select the world's finest analytical instruments for the research community. We also provide complete post-sale service support and technical assistance.
